The Planning Meeting
The Planning Meeting is the next step, after we find each other! It can be face-to-face or by Phone Conference Call. You and your fiancé can even be on Speaker phone.
My typical process is to meet with the couple over coffee, talk about the Ceremony and learn a bit about you and your relationship. That helps me make your ceremony more personalized.
Frequently, we can coordinate this meeting close to you, when I am already in your neighborhood.
Some pastors require a series of pre-marital sessions,* but I do not. I’ve found that couples just appreciate a chance to think & talk about your strengths and areas you want to grow in, as a person and in relationships. Couples often tell me it’s helpful and fun!
If it is a particularly busy Month, I may offer you the choice to meet with me and several other Couples, at the same time.
After your initial Planning Meeting, if you decide you’d like me to hold your wedding date for you, I ask that you mail me a deposit within a week or so of our get-together. Then, I request that you bring the balance to your Rehearsal.
After the Planning Meeting, I am available for follow up questions and input. Typically, there is an ongoing conversation of emails or phone calls, between our first face-to-face meeting and your Wedding!
* If you should ever need it, I am happy to offer you post-marital counseling. Sometimes, when relationships get into a tough spot, it is hard to find a neutral person that you both trust. I don’t take sides and my goal is to see the relationship work. I am routing for you both!
